How Come 20 Years Ago I Could Buy A Pair Of Shoes From A Store Like Clarks?

for £8 and they would last me for 5 years I bought shoes 6 weeks ago at £45 and already they need healing the inside has fallen to pieces and the sole has split. I need good comfortable shoes for work that do not look like old ladies shoes and that will last at least 5 or 6 years and I still like heels but they seem to make shoes so narrow now. Do you have this problem?

Back then they were made with pride in Britain, now they’re mass produced cheaply in China. I used to have the same problem, but now I get my shoes made specifically for me, much better quality.

Like the old adage says they don’t make things like they used to.

If I bought a pair of shoes and only lasted a six weeks, I would take them bak and ask them to inspect the quality of the shoes.
They may replace them with a new pair.

Take them back and get a refund….everything now is like this. shoes, clothes, domestic appliances, electronics. We want to pay less but don’t like the consequences.

I wear Dr Martin boots for work, i have worn them most days (at least 4 days a week) for 5 years and the soles are still fab on them, they never rub or pinch BRILL.
    Well worth every penny!?

Nowadays shoes are just glued together. Men’s shoes are worst. They cannot be properly repaired. Soles are glued or stapled on. The cost of soles and heels for mens shoes is almost the cost of a new pair. We have become a throwaway society.
